Warspite Class Destroyer Escort

The Warspite Class Destroyer Escort was designed during the early years of Serian League Exploration into their Galaxy. It was initially designed as a stopgap measure to fulfill the need for a large amount of escorts to protect merchant and colonization Convoys on the far reaches of known space. The Warspite Class was, suffice to say, found to be a very capable design at countering enemy Frigates, destroyers, and often while in packs... enemy Cruisers and even a merchant raiding Battle-cruiser. Mounting an immense armament of 28 Destroyer Grade CPLs and an armament of 24 Cruiser Grade HVSDL Tubes in single-shot VLS style packs the Warspite's reasonable speed and heavily reinforced structure allowed for the vessel to take a significant pounding before coming apart at the seams.
While the Warspite's structural integrity is above average, it's actual armor over that structure is about inline with it's class of a destroyer escort. However, it's armament and a powerful sensor array that takes up most of the superstructure below the main observation deck allows it to fulfill not only a anti-ship and fighter role, but also a vital Anti-Stealthship role. This flexibility has made the Warspite a heavily produced and highly sought after unit for both escorts and screens for larger ships.

The Warspite Class Destroyer Escort is also capable of carrying two Coriolis Class Gunships in Parasite-racks mounted just aft of the port and starboard Quarter turret mounts. (Racks not included in illustration.) This is to allow more flexibility and more of a 'bite' in situations including Fighter Support, Anti-Fighter Screens, and System Defense where the Warspite would be employed typically alone without a Destroyer Leader or without a Destroyer Squadron in support.
