Homeport Class Trade Station

Description

The Homeport Class Trade Station is a standard, easy to produce design. While not immense in any way, the station is designed to be built with ease in sections en-mass by one of the great Kazekin Class Industrial Titans. It is a way to expand Coalition contact throughout the Galaxy in non-hostile and trade-inducing ways.

Built on a modular design, a Trade Station can be built at a Kazekin and then the sections equipped with Jump nodes to be towed through slipspace to the build-site. The Nodes are then taken off, and the station constructed. Powered by a heavy duty Fission reactor, allowing for long-term operations without the need for refueling and the ability to use space as cooling and a way to dispose of spent fuel-rods (Typically launching them into a nearby sun if no other use can be found.).

The Trade station is designed to handle bulk cargoes, passengers, light and heavy trade, as well as repair and refueling. With Eight Bays for Light Cruisers and Destroyer class traders, and two landing pads for anything up to a Battleship or larger class heavy freighters, and Cargo Lighters for Dreadnought and Super Dreadnought scale cargo-carriers, the Trade Station can be a low cost and easily repairable 'trade hub' for any system. Combine this with four Cruiser-sized fuel tanks for Fusion powered vessels, the station is also a good place for Couriers, Passenger Vessels, Freighters, and even military patrols to stop by and rest, replenish, and refuel.

Equipped with two Cruiser grade Shipyards, the Trade Station is also capable of handling any damaged ship or any ship in need of refit. This allows for military and civilian ships to operate out of the same base of operations, simplifying the need for multiple stations and allowing the station to be used for system defense Boat operations.

Due to the Trade Station's allegiance to the Coalition of Aligned Worlds, it is provided with a single Warspite Class Destroyer Escort and a pair of Corosis Class Gunships of the Corvette Scale to protect the station and trade from pirates, privateers, and even enforce laws of the parent nation it is stationed in -- as long as the laws are not against Coalition Law. If so, the Warspite and Coalition crews will not do said mission, but will not impede the parent state's enforcement unless said enforcement comes aboard the station. The Warspite and Corosis Gunships are also tasked with responding to any Search and Rescue operations that present themselves in their designated area of operations (Typically any system within 5 jumps of the trade station. But could be smaller, if multiple trade stations are in close proximity or a system is busy and needs extra management.)

The Coalition has opened doors to any faction with an interest in having a Trade Station installed in any one or more of it's systems. It has also stated that the installation of the station in that system, or more systems, automatically opens up a free-trade agreement with that faction.

They are actively promoting this across the trade-lanes, and are willing to open up negotiations with any faction.
