The Blockading Force

A Coalition blockading force en-route to a hostile planet. When the orbitals are won by the Navy and it becomes too cost-intensive for the Coalition to keep a battle fleet in orbit above a Hostile world, it sends in small detachments of Monitors and Destroyers, smaller and cheaper to maintain and operate. The Monitors, typically numbering between two and eight depending on the size of a planet and it's population, sit in orbit to quell planetary hostilities either with force or by presence alone. The Monitors are accompanied by a supply and repair vessel, the Crate Class Auxiliary, and a small flotilla of Destroyers. The destroyers keep control of the orbitals as well as do patrols of the system to keep the motionless monitors in orbit safe from stellar threats. Depending on the deployment between 6 and 24 of the Destroyers can be deployed at a time, larger destroyer deployments are often accompanied by a protected cruiser or light cruiser to offer a command vessel for the Flotilla Commander.
