Coriolis Class Gunship

Originally Designed just after the IDI incursion into the Serian League rift to replace the aging System Defense Boats typically carried as parasite craft aboard the Warspite Class Destroyer Escort, as well as replacement for System Defense Boats attached to Stations, the Coriolis Class Gunship was designed to have a smaller crew and a higher amount of automation. While the System Defense Boat was large, blocky, and needed a rather large crew to operate, the Coriolis Class Gunship was designed around a basic 12 person crew.

Also unlike the System Defense Boat, the Coriolis was given a basic Slipspace Jump Drive capable of moving it from System to System in short jumps. This allowed for centralization of Serian League Space Navy Stations and for force projection across a cluster of nearby stars and settlements... rather than forcing the Navy or Planetary government to support an entire station directly in-system they could be patrolled by a Coriolis or two from a central Star. This jump-Drive was also a boon to the Warspite Class destroyer Escort, giving it force projection across two extra star-systems than itself... increasing patrol radius.

The Coriolis Class Gunship is armed with Two Destroyer Grade heavy Charged Particle Lances hard mounted to either side of the main hull just forward of the engine arrays, as well as 4 dual purpose Corvette grade CPLs mounted in dual turrets to allow it to counter Corvettes, frigates, or Small Craft... as well as counter fighters. Just beneath the Coriolis Class's Spinal Mounted cannons and just forward of the engine arrays are two Fighter Bays, capable of carrying Torpedo Bombers or a pair of Space superiority Fighters.

The Coriolis Class is the bane of any light patrol craft or fighters and in groups can be a danger to Destroyers and even Light cruisers.
