ACV-001 Vargrjager

Description

The ACV-001 Vagrjager is one of the first successful Ambulatory Combat Vehicles in the Coalition. While mechs have been built before, they were slow, sluggish designs... heavyweight and poorly constructed, typically yielding to the mech to be top heavy, slow, and overall less effective than a Coalition Tank.

The Vargrjager however, was a complete 360 degree turn. Developed by the Solvani Consortium during the waning years of the Serian League, by a small race of tauric beings... the Vargrjager was designed to be highly mobile, favoring speed, agility, maneuverability, and flexibility over size and 'tank-like'-ness.

The ACV-001 was designed to be able to move fluidly, act like the feral creature it's design was based off of. It's able to rotate it's legs in 'sockets', able to tumble and with a gyroscope built into the main body of the chassis, able to tumble and twist, dodge, jink, weave, jump. Just like a feral creature.

Powered by a Fusion core, the ACV-001 has more than enough power for extended periods of operation outside of contact with allied supply chains as long as the lone pilot has rations. The thermal heat of the Vargrjager is actually piped back through liquid hydrogen into a flexible radiator built into the Crystalline and flintsteel mesh tail. This radiator is designed, like the two long, shielded, mufflers to radiate the running heat of the mech nearly ten or more feet behind the central part of the mech. This acts as a built-in thermal decoy causing thermal heat seeking missiles to veer off course and aim at a much smaller, easier to miss target... which is even more so due to the speed and agility that this mech possesses.

For weaponry, the Vargrjager is given a relatively lightweight combat load... A single heavy tank grade Charged Particle Lance is it's only long ranged weapon, however it's heavily encased in armor on it's full 360 degree rotatable turret. However, a unique aspect of the Vargrjager is it's melee weapons. It's forward claws and it's teeth are actually starship-grade flintsteel armor shards with 'pores' that radiate cutting plasma. This allows the mech to have the ability to claw and bite through armor, be it a mech or a tank's armor.

This fearsome ability is dangerous even more so with the addition of a Mk. VII AI, typically that of an older Vanguard Tank with an installed Animalistic sub-code... allowing it to take further advantage of the more bestial mech body it possesses. This increased awareness and intelligence, coupled with the living pilot makes the mech as high speed death machine. The fearsome mech even has a high powered speaker built into the mouth to allow audible sounds to strike fear into it's enemies with vicious snarls, roars, and howls.

Compared to other mechs, the ACV-001 Vargrjager is actually classified as a medium mech. However, it's four legs allow for increased speed, agility, and motive power. The size of the mech is also reduced, to barely twenty five, if not twenty feet in height not counting the combat module mounted on it's back. This small size allows this mech to sneak incredibly well and use it's speed and maneuverability to it's advantage in combat. However, because of the mech's focus on speed, agility, and hitting power... it has given up significant amounts of armor for it's weight class, something the designs hope it's smaller size and increased physical abilities will help counter.
